Bob
Fassold is an experienced civilian and ex-military pilot with over nine
thousand flying hours in single and multi-engine, piston and jet, fixed
and rotary winged aircraft, land and sea. He has flown over 40 different
types and well over 300 different aircraft. In addition to serving as a
pilot in the RCAF he was a long time operator of a Cessna 182 and Beech
Baron, was chief pilot for an air taxi service and demonstrator of new
and used aircraft for the major Beechcraft dealer in Canada.
In the RCAF he was one of the youngest pilots to be assigned to the de Havilland Comets of 412 VIP Transport Squadron where he flew senior dignitaries and heads-of-state to destinations all over the world. This was the beginning of an affection for de Havilland aircraft which was later reinforced with flying the DHC-5 Buffalo and then the DHC-3 Otter (on wheels, floats and skis). He now indulges his love of de Havilland and vintage aircraft with his pet Chipmunk. Fassold's motto is that you're not a real pilot unless you've flown tailwheel and had your ego put in place by at least a near ground loop! It is getting more difficult, however, for young pilots to get this experience and for older pilots to do some nostalgic tailwheel flying. Fassold, therefore, has set-up his Pionair Chipmunk operation with Classic Aircraft to provide this opportunity for both young and not so young pilots at rates which currently are well below the cost of operating this vintage aircraft commercially. Don't miss this rare chance to fly one of the great airplanes of all time and also take advantage of Fassold's thousands of hours on tailwheel aircraft, which in addition to the Otter and Chipmunk include the Cessna 120, 140, 180, Harvard, Beech 18, and Dakota.. |
