| Most owners of ex-RCAF Chipmunks keep their aircraft in the RCAF yellow colour and markings, although not all are acccurate. Many however have "civilianized" their Chipmunks in various paint schemes. For example, both of these Chipmunks belong to John Phillips in High River, Alberta. The red and white one is John's pet aircraft (you can see the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the background). The yellow Chipmunk, which he acquired more recently, has been overhauled by Phillips and is being sold to a museum. It is in authentic RCAF yellow but the markings are incomplete. Phillips is a long standing avid Chipmunk pilot, enthusiast and historian and also a licensed aircraft mechanic. He is always a great source of information and technical advice to other Chipmunk owners. |
