John Porter is a 25 year pilot and a very active flying and ground school instructor with the Ottawa Flying Club. He also is the owner of the Classic Aircraft Company and therefore a partner in the operation of the Pionair Chipmunk. Porter has an avid interest in vintage aircraft (and motorcycles) and before he and Fassold joined forces with the Chipmunk, Porter's Classic Aircraft Company provided passenger flights and pilot float conversions with the company's Piper J-3 Cub on floats, based on the Ottawa River. Porter has over 5000 hours fixed wing time, land and sea, on a wide variety of single-engined aircraft, most of which is flying instructor time. Porter's long experience in teaching and training, in and outside aviation, makes him a very popular flight and groundschool instructor and a great asset to the Chipmunk operation.
