      A Choice of Flight Opportunities

The Chipmunk is a perfect aircraft for acquiring or refreshing tailwheel flying techniques -and also for polishing basic airmanship. Non-pilot aviation enthusiasts enjoy rides in this historic aircraft and first time "flyers" find it very exciting. In our experience both pilots and non-pilots always return from a Chipmunk flight with a wide grin!

We do not do aerobatic or ab initio pilot training, but do provide Chipmunk and tailwheel "conversions" and refresher training for qualified pilots-either in one of several "packages" or customized for the individual. We also regularly conduct pilot familiarization and passenger/sightseeing flights.

The aircraft is based at the north field of Ottawa International Airport which is located on the south central edge of the city. In addition to the 3300' runway 04-22 on this field, we use three nearby airports for practising take-offs and landings and circuit procedures. For the first circuits we usually fly about 10 min. NE across the city and the Ottawa River to use the 6000' runway 09-27 at Gatineau, Quebec. Alternatively we can fly about 15 min. to the west of the city and use the 4000' runway 10-28 at Carp. After some proficiency has been acquired you can try the 3000' runway 09-27 at Rockcliffe. This is about 5 min. away in a scenic NE location in the city of Ottawa on the edge of the Ottawa River (adjacent to the National Aviation Museum). Although the closest of the three alternate fields, it is a little trickier and busier than the other airports. In the summer we can fly about 20 min. west of Ottawa to Pendleton for some grass strip circuits. The enroute time is longer but many pilots have never flown from grass and enjoy this new experience. Some details on flying training options are found below in the rate and price examples.

Short passenger flights are conducted over the city and often over Parliament Hill on the Ottawa River. On longer passenger flights we usually fly north across the Ottawa River to the scenic Gatineau Hills.

The aircraft also participates in airshows and fly-ins and is on static display at various events.
